Java & NNV presents an opportunity to meet NNV members and volunteers, as well as to learn more about NNV services, volunteer opportunities and member benefits.

Wednesday, August 4, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm -- Good Eating, Good Eats Nutirtion Seminar and Cooking Demonstration -- Sponsored by Iona Senior Services, this special session of Caregiver U will feature a live cooking demonstration at 5:45 pm with Chef Tianna Feaster, the owner and Executive Chef of Feast Your Eyes on This, a personal chef service serving the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. A focus of the seminar and the cooking demonstration will be on easy to prepare, fun and diabetic friendly foods. Audience members will have a chance to sample foods.

The educational component will be presented from 4-5:30 pm and repeated from 7-8:30 pm. This will be led by Jean Johnson. This program is free and open to the public. For more information and to RSVP, please contact IONA at 202.895.9448.

Thursday, August 19, 9:00 am 1:00 pm -- Alzheimers Dementia Training Session -- Capital City Nurses has opened its Alzheimers Dementia Training session to NNV volunteers and members at its offices, 4600 North Park Ave., in Chevy Chase, MD. Capital City Nurses is certified by the Alzheimer's Association to provide this session and others, which include valuable information that addresses and defines normal forgetfulness versus Alzheimers and other causes of dementia. They welcome family and area members to join their professional caregivers, who provide home care services to the local community, for this training. In addition the the Alzheimers Dementia piece, a second part will address mental and behavioral health issues.
